1. What is SMSParking?
With SMSParking you can pay your parking fee by sending a SMS message when you start parking your car and sending another SMS message when you leave. You pay for the exact time you parked your car.
2. Where can I use SMSParking?
Available in Amsterdam and Haarlem.
3. Is it possible for me to use SMSParking?
Yes it is possible! You can register on our website and get an account with SMSParking. You pay a onetime registration fee of € 5,00. As soon as your registration is processed and your account is activated you will have an option to specify which phone number(s) you want to use. There are no extra costs involved. You don’t have to connect license plate numbers to your phone number. You can enter the license plate every time you send a SMS message.
1. How do I register for SMSParking?
On our homepage choose the register button and fill out the registration form.
2. What happens when I registered and when will I be able to use SMSParking?
While your personal information is processed and SMSParking collects the registration fee, your SMSParking user account is activated and ready for use.
3. Can I enter multiple phone numbers on my account?
As a private user you can enter up to 5 phone numbers.
As a business user you can enter as many as you like, however, the number of phone numbers must be relevant to the size of your firm.
There are no extra costs involved for adding and changing phone numbers.
4. What do I do if I forget my Username or Password?
If you forget your username:
Send a SMS message to 4030 containing word “user” and you will receive your username by e-mail.
If you forget your Password:
Send a SMS message to 4030 containing word “pass” and you will receive your password by e-mail.
5. What are my obligations when I register at SMSParking?
There are no obligations. You are free to use SMSParking but not obligated to pay monthly fees for using SMSParking. If you want to end your SMSParking account, please send us a written request.
1. What is a Short Code?
Short code is a special telephone number, significantly shorter than a full telephone number. It is designed to be easier to read and remember. The short code for SMSParking is 4030.
2. What is a Zone Code?
Zone code is a number written at the top of a parking meter. It represents the zone where your car is parked.
3. What is a SMS Reminder?
A SMS reminder is a SMS message you receive during your parking with the information that your SMSParking is still active. It is a reminder to end your parking. You can activate the SMS reminder on your personal account and set it to every 30 or 60 minutes.
1. How do I know which parking locations are charging for parking?
The parking charges/rules are set by the municipality.
2. How do I compose the SMS message to START parking?
The SMS message must contain: Zone number{space}license plate number (You send the message to 4030.)
For Example: Zone number = 12345, license plate number = SG-PN-40. Your SMS message will look like this:
12345 sgpn40 (You send the message to 4030.)
If you park with the same car every time, you only need to include the zone code in your SMS message. If you park with a different car, in your SMS message, you have to include the license plate of the car you are driving. This gives you the flexibility to use SMSParking with different cars.
3. How do I compose the SMS message to END parking?
To end a parking action, type the letter q and send the message to 4030.
4. How long does it take to receive the SMSParking confirmation message?
You receive a confirmation message within 20 seconds.
5. How much does it cost to park my car?
The municipality sets the parking rates. SMSParking BV has no influence on parking rates.
6. What do I do if I want to end my parking but my cell phone battery runs out?
You can end your parking through your online user account.
7. What’s the time limit for parking my car?
It depends on the local regulations. The SMS messages you receive from SMSParking will notify you if there is a time limit.
8. I have a pre-paid phone. Does SMSParking charge extra phone credits for sending or receiving a SMS message from 4030?
No, SMSParking does not charge extra phone credits. Sending a SMS message to 4030 does not cost you anything. However, for every SMS message you receive from 4030, SMSParking charges € 0,15 service fee. This charge will be included in your invoice at the end of the month.
9. How does the parking controller know that I am paying for parking with SMSParking?
By checking your license plate number, controller can tell that you are using SMSParking.
10. What will happen if I forget to end my parking action?
Your parking action will automatically end when the time limit is reached. You can also use our SMS reminder service to receive a SMS reminder messages. To activate this service go to your SMSParking user account.
11. Can I use SMSParking with foreign license plates?
Yes you can! With foreign license plates your SMS message will looks the same. For example: A German license plate (DUI-100-20) parks in zone 12345. The SMS message you send looks like this: “12345 dui10020”.

There’s a onetime sign up fee of € 5,00 which SMSParking BV collects from your bank or credit card account.
2. How much does it cost to send a SMS message to 4030?
That depends on the rates that your cell phone provider charges for sending a SMS. SMSParking does not charge you extra for sending a SMS.
3. How much does it cost to receive a SMS message from SMSParking BV?
For every SMS message that SMSParking sends to you, you will be charged € 0,15 service fee. This involves every SMS message like: start parking, end parking and SMS reminders. The service fees are charged to your account and will show on your invoice at the end of the month.
4. Are there any other costs for using SMSParking?
If you pay with Visa or Master Card, SMSParking will charge 3,5% fee for handling and security costs.
1. How do I pay my bills?
Every two weeks SMSParking BV will automatically collect the amount owing from your bank or credit card account.
2. How do I get a summary of my parking actions?
Go to your user account on www.SMSparking.nl to view detailed summary of your parking actions (phone number, license plate, zone, time, date, price and etc).
3. What happens if SMSParking can not collect the Parking fee from my bank or credit card account?
In this case SMSParking will give you the opportunity to pay the amount owing within 3 days. If this doesn’t occur, SMSParking will cancel the service and you will have 4 days to pay without extra charge. After this period, if the amount owing has not been paid, SMSParking will charge an administration fee and it will hand your case over to the bailiff office Janssen & Janssen cs Gerechtsdeurwaarders which charges extra for their services. Therefore, it is in your best interest to pay your SMSParking charges on time.
